1:48 scale, or quarter-inch scale, styrene plastic ribbed/corrugated roof.
Two 7" x 12" sheets of 0.020" styrene in grey. Vacuum formed to approximate 1:48 scale architectural elements. Called "O scale," it is a common railroad size. You will also find a lot of military models in this scale: tanks, jeeps, soldiers and even airplanes and helicopters. Due to the abundance of railroad miniatures available, it is also a common architectural model scale. Many of the patterns will work for larger or smaller scales.
Styrene is highly versatile. It's more flexible than it's cousin ABS plastic. It can be drilled, sawed, sheared, punched, threaded, machined, vacuum-formed or heat-formed. Non-toxic. Cut intricate designs and patterns using these precision curved shears. Not limited to model building, styrene sheets are great for signs, prototypes, displays, replacement parts and more. Bond pieces together using solvent adhesive. Adhere pieces to things like foam core board, cardboard, or wood using spray glue or white glue. You can also glue it with CA glues. Interesting fact: polystyrene is approved by the F.D.A. for food contact.
1:48 scale is also referred to as 1/4" scale. They are the same.
